What is dvdmedia file?

A .dvdmedia file is basically a bundle that holds the contents of a DVD - you just take a VIDEO_TS folder and add ".dvdmedia" to the end of the folder. dvdmedia extension only exists on Mac OS. On Windows, files with this extension display just as a folder. The Mac DVD player can play a .dvdmedia file directly.



How to play dvdmedia files on Mac

Just double click the .dvdmedia file and it starts playing in DVD Player. If you unbundle the .dvdmedia package, you have to drag the VIDEO_TS folder to Apple DVD Player to play the movie. You can't just double-click the VIDEO_TS folder inside dvdmedia bundle, because that would only show the contents of the folder in the Finder.

Change a .dvdmedia file to a VIDEO_TS folder:

1. Right click the .dvdmedia file, and choose Get Info.
2. Delete the suffix .dvdmedia in the Name & Extension field, and click Return.
3. Click Confirm in the window that shows up.
4. The .dvdmedia file has changed a VIDEO_TS folder.
